Up-coming Releases

Call of Duty: Black Ops

The newest installment of the Call of Duty franchise is set to release on November 9 of this year. Personally I cannot wait! The era in which Black Ops is based in offers many new possibilities for a deep storyline. Black Ops will place players into the midst of a cold war between the former Soviet Union and the United States. During the Cold War the world came the closest it has ever been to complete and utter destruction as both superpowers tip-toed around global-thermo nuclear war. It is likely that Treyarch, the entity producing the title, will play on this fear and tension that was actually felt.
What makes this Call of Duty extra unique from previous ones is the brand new currency system for online play. In previous titles players had to progress through the leveling system to unlock new ranks and corresponding weapons, equipment, perks etc. In Black Ops the player instead earns credits by playing matches and completing challenges. These credits are used in the store to purchase a weapon the player chooses. This allows players to fine tune how they play by buying, for example, exclusively snipers or exclusively machine guns. In Call of Duty: Black Ops the choice is yours!

Medal of Honor

After three long years the beast finally awakes. Medal of Honor releases this upcoming Tuesday the 12th and its coming in hard and fast. Moving away from the typical WW2 setting every previous MoH game has been based around is a very welcome change of pace. Diving into a current war like Medal of Honor is doing with the war in Afghanistan is a very risky thing to do for obvious reasons.
However, the team behind MoH says that by focusing more on the individual  soldier more than on the war in general will make for a less offending gaming experience. Other than a few game modes not very much is known about any new groundbreaking features to be in the game. Because of this i am curious as to see if this sleeping giant can top the juggernaut that is the Call of Duty franchise which has seen very little competition in recent years. I guess we'll just have to wait and find out.

See you out there on the battlefield!!!
